About

Artist Statement:

I wanted to explore the relationship between existentialism and nature in my investigation. By doing this, I looked at the relationship between humans and nature and realized that we often forget that we are a part of nature, and tend to mentally separate and distinguish ourselves from the rest of the world.

In my investigation, I experimented with interaction between humans and nature: including switched roles, surrealist imagery, and placing objects in unconventional spaces, showing the irony present in today's society. The catalyst for my work was “solitude,” depicting comfort in the lonely solitude of nature. I wanted to continue an exploration of human interaction with nature. I’ve noticed that a lot of my pieces reflect Salvador Dali’s surrealistic work. From him, I’ve gained that the idea and my connection to the work are some of the most important aspects of art. Simple but detailed designs help bring things that I want my audience to question across.
